Where is the studio?

12 Biggs St, East Brisbane QLD 4169. It is a home-based studio, a short drive from Kangaroo Point, Woolloongabba, Coorparoo and Norman Park. Sessions are by appointment. Map and contact details.

How much does a session cost?

A private 60-minute session is $135. A duo is $67.50 per person. A group equipment class (up to 4 people) is $50 per person. A Foundation Training group mat class (up to 8 people) is $45 drop-in.

Why does it cost more than a big reformer studio?

Large studios put 12 to 20 people in a room with one instructor. Here the most you will share equipment classes with is three other people, and private sessions are one to one. Jill watches how you move and changes the session as you go.

Do I need any experience?

No. If you are new, call Jill first on 0448 888 492 so she can suggest the right starting point. Most new clients begin with a private session.

Can Pilates help with back pain?

For many people with long-term lower back pain, regular guided exercise such as Pilates reduces pain and makes daily movement easier. It is not a cure and it does not replace a diagnosis. Jill started Pilates after her own back injury in 2002 and has worked with back pain clients for 20 years. If your pain is severe, new, or comes with numbness or weakness, see your GP or physio first. More on Pilates for back pain.

Should I do Pilates if my lower back hurts right now?

Often yes, with the right exercises and someone watching you. Tell Jill what is going on before you start. A private session lets her choose movements that suit you and avoid the ones that do not.

Is yoga or Pilates better for back pain?

Both can help. Pilates puts more weight on controlled strength through the trunk and hips, and the equipment can support you while you build it. The better choice is the one taught in a small enough group that someone corrects how you move.

What is Foundation Training?

Foundation Training is a set of bodyweight exercises created by Dr Eric Goodman to strengthen the back of the body and improve posture. It needs no equipment. Jill is a Level 2 Foundation Training instructor. Read more about Foundation Training classes.

What equipment does the studio have?

Two reformers, two Pilates chairs and a Cadillac, plus mats and small props. More on reformer Pilates.

What is the difference between private, duo and group?

Private is one to one and built around you. Duo is two people who book together and split the cost. Group equipment classes take up to four people. More on private sessions.

Can I do sessions online?

Yes. Private and duo sessions are available by Zoom at the same price.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in.

What if I need to cancel?

Please give at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. See the cancellation policy.
